Network action is a genre unique in its characteristics. Games focused on duels and team fights over local networks and the Internet are developing separately from the rest of the gaming industry. While projects intended primarily for single-player play boast gorgeous pictures and exciting gameplay, online action movies focus exclusively on fights and shootouts. The visual side is only good enough not to hurt the eyes, and nothing more: otherwise the system requirements will exceed the capabilities of the average configuration, and the popularity of the product will suffer. The plot is developed at the most primitive level: no one pays attention to it, but it’s somehow not customary to do without a storyline at all.
The idea of Fallen Empire: Legions is initially secondary. For quite a long time we were pleased with Starsiege: Tribes, famous for its unique physics model. Hilly locations seemed difficult only to beginners: experienced players knew that there were simply no inaccessible points there – you could literally fly up to any one by successfully pushing off from the surface. Devil May Cry 4, which pleased us not so long ago, where the heroes could linger in the air for a decent period of time, does not hold a candle to Tribes: there, in flight, they shot, dodged grenades and generally spent more gaming time than confidently standing with all their limbs on the ground. Alas, the project gradually lost popularity, the sequel brought nothing but losses, as a result of which the studio that created it Dynamix was closed by the publisher Sierra.

The number and size of maps, the list of game modes, types of weapons – regarding all this, gentlemen from GarageGames operate with streamlined concepts like “many” or “little”. In such conditions, it is simply impossible to draw an unambiguous conclusion about what we will see after the release.
Fallen Empire: Legions fully meets all the requirements usually placed on an online FPS. It guarantees its users hurricane action, an unusual physical model and a nice picture that does not distract from the action. Of course, the starting version is small – at best, a dozen or two maps and several game modes, but over time the developers promise to release more and more new additions that will turn an already outstanding shooter into candy.
